The DVD Story
Why does the playback of my DVD look blurry and pixelated? It looks like a VHS tape from the 80's.
DVD's were created in 1995 when TV's were analog and were 13 inches in size. Today standard TV's are 32" to 64" and are High Definition. DVD's are not and were never intended to be a High Definition product. They are a SD product (Standard Definition)
DVD's produce an image that is 720px x 480px which is designed to play on a 13' TV. Most TV's today produce an image that is 1920px x 1080px. When watching a DVD on a High Definition TV the image needs to be multiplied or interpolated by over 2.2 times to fill the TV screen. This magnification and /or interpolation is what causes the image to look blurry or pixelated.

In 2017 EAP Productions introduced EAPTV and discontinued DVD manufacturing. EAPTV is a High Definition product that allows you to watch your recital in High Definition on any internet connected device (ie: Internet Ready TV, iPhone, Android, Tablet or computer). Many consumers complained that they wanted to have an archival copy of their child's recital. In 2018 DVD's were brought back to the EAP Productions product line. Unfortunately the quality of DVD's will never improve. They do not compare to the quality of EAPTV.

We use top-quality DVD-R DVDs. DVD-R is considered the most compatible recorded DVD on the market with a 98% compatibility rate. We print directly on to each DVD, thus avoiding the use of stickers or labels that can affect compatibility.
While not all DVD players are compatible with recordable DVDs, please note that DVD-R is generally playable on most set-top players,
STEPS TO TAKE IF YOUR DVD IS NOT WORKING
If you have received a DVD and it does not work, it is either a bad disc or incompatible with your playback device. In order to test your DVD, please try it out on a secondary playback device.
If the DVD still does not work, it is likely a defective disc. If this is the case, please check with your studio to determine if they have additional copies on hand. If they do, you may exchange it at your studio for a new copy. If your studio does not have any additional copies or your DVD was originally shipped directly to you, please visit our Support Portal to contact us for a replacement DVD.
If the DVD does play in other playback devices, but not your preferred playback device, you have one of the following three options:
1) You may keep the current DVD and watch it on secondary playback devices.
2) You may purchase a new DVD set-top player that can be used to play the device (check to ensure that it is in fact compatible with DVD-R prior to purchase).
3) You may exchange your DVD-R for a DVD+R. DVD+R is a less compatible format, but it may work on your system. If the DVD+R does not work on your system, you may either revert to options 1 or 2 above, or apply for another DVD-R.
Replacement DVDs are usually shipped within 2-3 days
